About Us

Sister Ana Frawley

Centre Director

When I discovered the world of breastfeeding I realized I had found my passion. Something in me ignited as I noticed parents of newborn babies have very little support and information in achieving their goals to be great parents.

Thinking back on all the difficulties I encountered during and after the birth of my children, I decided to grab this opportunity to empower new parents through childbirth education.

I want to be your support structure and guide you through the stages of your baby’s early life. The saying “when a baby is born, a mother is born” holds very true in the first few weeks of adjusting to the newborn with his/her family. My focus is to ensure moms and dads feel heard, their feelings and emotions are validated and in turn, they feel supported during this life-changing phase in their lives. Understanding what is normal baby behaviour allows parents to cope with the transition.

Being a mother of three, I understand that each baby-mom partnership (dyad) is unique therefore my approach is extremely personal, compassionate, and empathetic.

My many years of experience as a registered nurse, and midwife of 30 years, made me realize the need to help new families in a holistic way. I provide professional, medical, and emotional support for all my new families.

In 2010 I became an Internationally Certified Lactation Consultant as well as a Certified Perinatal and Childbirth Educator. I am currently the chairperson of the Gauteng Breastfeeding Forum (GBF) which is a non-profit organization committed to giving new evidence-based information and up-to-date talks to fellow medical professionals that work with mothers and babies; both in the public and private sector.

I have also qualified as a Yoga instructor for pregnant women and postnatal moms. You will be soon be able to participate in special classes with me.

I currently hold the position of Chairperson of the Gauteng Breastfeeding Forum (GBF), a non-profit organization, committed to giving new evidence-based information and up-to-date talks to fellow medical professionals that work with mothers and babies; both in the public and private sector.

I have recently decided to hit the books, yet again, to become a yoga instructor for pregnant women and postnatal moms.

I am also a qualified yoga instructor catering to the special needs of pregnant women and postnatal moms.

I am driven by the ever-changing encounters I have with new parents, they inspire me. As much as I share my knowledge with new parents, I feel I learn something new from them as well which excites and motivates me to create and continue a cycle of support, knowledge-sharing and most importantly one of compassion.

Love and Light
Ana
